Serena Williams is getting an early start celebrating Black History Month. The American tennis star wore a custom-made Black History Month headband and sneakers during her first-round win at the Australian Open.

Nike created the collection specially for the 14-time Grand Slam champion. It features the sneakers, sweatband and bag, and also includes a bomber jacket that Serena won't have much interest in wearing in Melbourne's sweltering summer heat.

Designers based the collection on classic Nike silhouettes and the unique patterns associated with the 36th anniversary of Black History Month. Each of the designs feature a BHM monogram.

If you look closely, you'll see that the back of Serena's socks have those little balls on them. I don't think that's a tribute to anything, other than fashion awesomeness and practicality.
