Hines Ward has a cameo in the just-released trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises" that I have not watched 15 times already today.
The Pittsburgh Steelers receiver appears near the end of the two-minute trailer as a player on the fictitious Gotham Rogues. In the clip, Ward catches a pass and runs for the end zone, unaware that the field behind him is imploding, presumably at the hands of the film's villain, Bane. And you thought the Steelers rivalry with the Baltimore Ravens was vicious.
Director Christopher Nolan shot scenes for his upcoming film this August in Pittsburgh. He recruited 10 Steelers players for help with the shoot at Heinz Field, including Ward and Ben Roethlisberger. Fans were asked to sit in the stands as extras for the production.
"The Dark Knight Rises" opens in theaters on July 20, 2012.
