DTotD: Spartak Moscow keeper gets his face broken by opponent’s knee

Spartak Moscow goalkeeper Andrei Dykan suffered a concussion and fractures to his face and jaw during Saturday's match against Zenit St. Petersburg when Alexander Kerzhakov's knee caught him in the head. Dykan dove to save a shot from Kerzhakov, but the Zenit striker could stop before his knee connected with the keeper's face. Kerzhakov rushed to Dykan's aid, but the keeper had to exit the 2-1 win for Zenit in the 66th minute because of his injuries.

Unfortunately for Dykan, this will probably keep him from playing for host nation Ukraine in Euro 2012 this summer.

Anyway, Dykan's Spartak teammate probably felt pretty bad for making a meal out of that challenge from behind just before Dykan got his face bashed in.

But the victim of this match's worst facial assault? Zenit's mascot.
