Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III confirms he wants Tiger Woods on team

We're still seven months out from the start of the Ryder Cup at Medinah and already Davis Love III has taken out some of the uncertainty surrounding at least one of his selections for the squad, after the U.S. captain confirmed Tiger Woods would be on his team.

"I think like Phil, or like Hunter, all it takes is one week, you know," Love said on Tuesday. "I think if [Tiger] plays a full schedule, he's going to be right in there.  I just keep saying if he's healthy, he's going to make the team.

"I think that's what Fred, what anybody, would think. If he's healthy, he's going to be on the team one way or another."

Woods is currently 32nd on the U.S. Ryder Cup points list, so he still has an outside shot to make the team outright with a couple wins. But at this point, it appears Love is content to pull a "Fred Couples" and make the Woods announcement early.

He said the only way Woods wouldn't make the team is if he's "hurt or didn't play a full season," so barring an injury later this year, you might as well pencil him in for at least a captain's pick.

Is Tiger worthy of a spot on the team? Who the heck knows at this point. A lot could change in the next seven months, but based on the recent uptick we've seen in his game, the selection doesn't seem as crazy as Couples' decision to add Woods last year when his game was an absolute mess.
